This is Love

7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. - 1 John 4:7-10

This is Love

Every time my family gets together with my mom for a special event, she makes lasagna. She makes it for 3 reasons:

1. It feeds a lot of people.
2. She makes really awesome lasagna.
3. It's our family comfort food. When mom makes lasagna, the world is a little better place, things make a little more sense, and everyone feels a little more at home.

The title for this passage in my bible says "God's love and ours", but for me it could have said "Mom's Lasagna". It's comfort food for the soul. So next time your heart is aching from the weight of it all, have an enormous helping of this:

God left everything for you. He is the eternal king that left his throne so that you might know the depth of his care and compassion. His sacrifice means you never have to doubt your goodness, worthiness, and value.

This is love; he sacrificed everything for the sins of the world, and also just you.

If you're still hungry there is plenty for seconds.
