Me, Myself, and I
17 But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. 18 They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” 19 These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.
20 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. -Jude 1:17-21
Me, Myself, and I
If I'm honest, most of the time I'm really not that interested other people's opinions (you probably aren't either, it's a human problem, not a Mitch problem). Whatever the case may be, I am always tempted to trust my instincts (some might call them emotions, feelings, your gut). Now, for minor things, by all means, go with your gut.
However, when your sorting out important life decisions and relationships, appeal to a higher and more trustworthy source.
God gave us the Holy Spirit so that we can seek wisdom and counsel for all of life's depth. Don't ignore the gift when you're going through stuff. Talk to God, read his word, ask for counsel from Christian friends, and trust that the Holy Spirit is at work in every word you pray, every verse you read, and every conversation you have.
Me, myself, and I have never served me as well as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
