Change Your Treasure
Change Your Treasure
Scripture
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. - Matt 6:19-21
It's Election Day in America. In a few hours from now there will be millions of people distraught over the outcome, no matter who wins. I wish there was some way that I could take all of that away, that there was some middle path that extended grace to both sides. I wish that there was a balm that I could offer that would bind up the wounds of our divided communities. I want so badly to see unity. I long for neighbors on every street to love each other well, to see the holy creature before them, each one made uniquely in the image of God. People who look different, think different, act different, and yet are no less valuable to the one who formed them. I want everyone to have the everlasting hope of Jesus, the good king who reigns now and forever, over every other king, president, government, and power of this world.
It's tempting to place our hopes and dreams in lesser things. Temporal things. Broken things. Hollow figures. Idols.
There is better treasure out there.
May we all ask, seek, and know the riches of God's love so that tomorrow may come as today; A new day to proclaim good news.
God is on the throne. Go tell somebody. Follow Jesus Closer.
